  2. I disagree that we need a steep slope ordinance. Isn't that what the building department is for? I personally think our building department here in Macon County, does a terrific job, and that is why we haven't had too many problems with bilding on steep slopes. They look out for our construction industry here in Macon County, and the state biulding codes cover all aspects of building.

We really don't have much of a construction industry any more, and if this ordinance is passed, we probably won't be able to get the industry to rebound!

Part of the reason many people moved here is because government has stayed out of our lives in this wonderful mountain area. We don't need any more government control! This will affect the real estate industry, construction industry, and then will trickle down into all areas of our community.

Why would someone want to come here with more restrictions to build when they can go to Clay or Cherokee counties and build with less cost?

This whole regulation thing is ridiculous! There are many many lots that have a steep slope which have already been built upon with no problems what so ever! Look here in Macon county, how many problem sites have there been here? Not too many at all!

I know of two places that have problems, one because of a natural disaster (Peeks Creek), the other because of improper grading and building (Blossomtown), and I believe that was not properly graded.

If this passes, I guarantee you, that any one who votes for this, will probably not be re-elected! I certainly won't vote for anyone that votes for this! I know I am not alone!

With our economy in the shape it is in right now, that's all we need to keep it sliding on down the hill!
